This type of structure is normally called a dzherelo in Ukrainian, though here it is called a shipit (Ukrainian) or shipot (Russian), which would normally refer to a waterfall. This type of fountain is a clean water source in many villages in Ukraine, serving as an alternative to a well. It consists of a large metal pipe drilled into a hill horizontally.
